Packrat or Pack Rat

Packrat

Real packrats are also known as bushytail woodrats. Mine doesn’t have a bushy tail. Woodrats also have a huge proboscis. We had a packrat get into the garage once, I kept finding shiny beer cans moved from the recycling bin. This is just a rat with a pack.

Baby Bird in Nest

Request:

I was hoping you could draw a nest of eggs, with one hatched in the middle and a silly looking bird with glasses sticking it’s head out. Don’t know if that’s too complicated for the free section, but here’s to hoping! Thanks a bunch.

I thought it needed color.

Robbie the Robot

Request:

A robot – however you want it to be.

This is Robbie the Robot of 1950s movie fame. He’s a big bot. I’ve steampunked a cappuccino machine into his chest. Where would you put something like this? If you’ve got a corner big enough for that palm tree you got from the office plant lady, then I’m sure you can make room for an awesome vintage robot. Plus he frees up counter space.

Tattered Lawn Chair

Request:

I would be ever so pleased if you would draw a picture of an aluminum lawn chair (the kind that has (often ugly) vinyl webbing which frays as it ages).

I couldn’t resist adding a couple crumpled beer cans to go along with this old webbed lawn chair.

Magnifying Lens

Request:

Nice website, I saw the free requests, and it would be great if you could do one. I have a graphic design portfolio online, and I always wanted a image for my 404 / not-found page. Could you draw a magnifying glass over a few pieces of paper?

Totem Design

This is for a request for a totem pole tattoo design. It’s a combination of totem, tiki, and Kustom Kulture styles. The eyes and motifs on the body are traditional, the raised eyebrows and tapered shape are tiki, and the design in the wings comes from custom car scallops.

Totem Tattoo

I guess you could call this a warmup sketch, an hours diversion. I happened to notice that the shape of the eagles beak is surprisingly true to life on highly stylized totem eagles. Pencil on a cheap 4″ x 5″  sketch pad, too small for a whole lot of detail:

First Drawing Request!

This site is brand new. I thought my first request, if anyone ever found the site, would be for a butterfly or flower or something. Nothing wrong with that, but my first request was way better than that. The day I finished building the site I got a fascinating request from the guy I bought a stock photo from that I used in the sites header. Could I draw the Ida May, a classic yacht he and a friend were restoring. Aside from being a beautiful craft and the fact that I truly love classic wood boats, the Ida May has an incredible history, a very worthwhile diversion.
